So why is that? 🤷🏼♀️
Well that’s a good question!
We humans are not perfect … uhm (nobody is perfect).
That being said, did you know that our bodies are asymmetrical. Because of this, most of the time one of your breasts may produce more milk than the other.
Uneven milk production is in most cases a result of natural asymmetry.
One breast may have:
✴️ More milk producing tissue
✴️ Larger milk ducts
✴️ More forceful letdown response
However, milk production does depend on how often you empty your breasts or nurse your baby. If baby has a favorite side, the favorite breast will produce more milk (because that’s the side you empty more often).
If you want a balanced milk production on both sides of your breasts, try these tips:
🤱Breastfeed your baby more on the low-producing breast.
🍼 Add extra pumping sessions to the low-producing breast.
👶🏼Encourage baby to give the low-producing breast more attention.
✨Definition of asymmetry:
“Having two sides or halves that are not the same”.
Did you know:
Low-producing breasts also have a name in the Breastfeeding World 🌍? We also call them lazy boobs, slacker boob, lopsided boobs etc.
