The internet just loves watching babies avoid touching grass (poor babies, because they are really terrified).
But why? š¤·āāļø
The reason is actually very simple ā¦ Grass š± can cause a baby to experience sensory overload. With other words: the feeling of grass can be rough, wet š¦, it tickles!
Itās just too much and their baby brain š§ is overwhelmed by all these senses.
However thatās not the biggest reason why babies donāt like grass ā¦
A Yale study š š©āāļø in 2014 looked at babiesā responses to different objects. Researchers found that when babies were introduced to š¼šæš» plants, they took longer to decide to touch them when compared to other objects.
So why is that?
Results out of this study showed that certain diseases that are common in the šØāš©āš§āš¦ family, children can be āmoreā sensitive too.
That is to say that babiesā wariness of plants is natural behavior meant to keep them from getting poisoned. In other words itās actually āMother Natureā that is playing an important role in this behavior.
In that it is saying the š world is full of plants that can be ā£ļø toxic.
Letās admit, our babies are just very smart and careful! š¶š§
