Why are babies terrified of grass

The internet just loves watching babies avoid touching grass (poor babies, because they are really terrified).

But why? šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

The reason is actually very simple ā€¦ Grass šŸŒ± can cause a baby to experience sensory overload. With other words: the feeling of grass can be rough, wet šŸ’¦, it tickles!

Itā€™s just too much and their baby brain šŸ§  is overwhelmed by all these senses.

However thatā€™s not the biggest reason why babies donā€™t like grass ā€¦

A Yale study šŸ“š šŸ‘©ā€āš•ļø in 2014 looked at babiesā€™ responses to different objects. Researchers found that when babies were introduced to šŸŒ¼šŸŒæšŸŒ» plants, they took longer to decide to touch them when compared to other objects.

So why is that?

Results out of this study showed that certain diseases that are common in the šŸ‘Øā€šŸ‘©ā€šŸ‘§ā€šŸ‘¦ family, children can be ā€œmoreā€ sensitive too.

That is to say that babiesā€™ wariness of plants is natural behavior meant to keep them from getting poisoned. In other words itā€™s actually ā€œMother Natureā€ that is playing an important role in this behavior.

In that it is saying the šŸŒ world is full of plants that can be ā˜£ļø toxic.

Letā€™s admit, our babies are just very smart and careful! šŸ‘¶šŸ§

Is or was your baby afraid of grass too?
